Product Description

Lactobacillus casei (L. casei) is a species of the Lactobacillus genus that exists in the human mouth and intestinal tracts, and is often found in milk, cheese, and other dairy products. It is Gram-positive, anaerobic, nonmotile, and cytochrome-free bacteria that does not produce spores. This unique strain can survive a wide range of pH and temperature, and can also promote the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus (L. acidophilus). L. casei is considered a safe edible probiotic with benefits such as lowering cholesterol levels, enhancing immune response, controlling diarrhea, relieving lactose intolerance, and inhibiting intestinal pathogens.

Uses

  • Food additives. L. casei inhibits and kills spoilage and pathogenic bacteria in food, so it is a major source of preservatives. In addition, it can improve food flavor without affecting food properties, so it can be added to food as a starter.
  • Dairy products. L. casei, one of the probiotics, is used as a starter or auxiliary starter for dairy products such as milk, yogurt, soy milk, cream and cheese. It can increase cheese flavor and promote cheese ripening through the metabolism of some key amino acids.
  • Dietary supplements. As a probiotic with unique health functions, L. casei has shown potential health benefits in digestion, constipation, anti-tumor and other conditions, and it can be used in dietary supplements.
